ORTHOTICS

WHAT IS AN ORTHOSIS?

There are many kinds of orthopedic devices. Names often related to this are orthosis, braces or support bandage. The goal of the orthosis is to replace or restore a lost function in the body part that has been damaged. The use of an orthosis can for example be related to sport injuries such as crucial ligament injuries and achilleas rupture. An orthosis can also be necessary if you get drop foot for example after cerebral hemorrhage.

Some patients only use their devices during rehabilitation, until the damaged part of the body is healed or the original function is restored. For other patients the orthosis may be necessary to use during a longer period of time or for the rest of their life, it depends on the type of injury.

Other conditions that bring patients to visit an orthopedic clinic is for example osteoarthritis, patellar dislocation or when they got a deformity caused by pes valgus/varus in the foot. Patients with spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, cerebral hemorrhage, neuropathy, myelomeningocele, and diabetes also seek help for different types of orthoses at an orthopedic clinic.

There are many different types of orthoses that are designed to fit different body parts. We at Bahr Innovation help orthopedic clinics and workshops to build 3D printed definitive orthoses or 3D printed production models for:
